Learning roadmap

working

The areas under active development, and how they map onto this site. Organised by the Skills Map pillars, so a gap here corresponds to a specific section.

This is a roadmap, not a personal progress tracker

The planning document this derives from carries per-course completion status. That belongs in a private document rather than on a public site, so what follows is the structure — the areas, what each is for, and where the site covers it. Personal status stays where it is.

Active expansion

These are the areas being deliberately deepened, and the site sections marked working reflect that.

Area Why Site section
Meteorology Domain depth for atmospheric and wildfire work Meteorology
Machine learning Breadth across classical and modern methods Machine Learning
Deep learning Architectures, training craft, generative Deep Learning
Computer vision Detection, segmentation, scientific imagery Computer Vision
Physics-informed ML The bridge to the simulation half Scientific ML

Maintained, recap only

Settled areas where the site exists to reload knowledge quickly rather than build it.

Areas with no site section yet

Represented in the planning document but not on the site, either because they are peripheral to its purpose or not yet developed enough to write about usefully:

  • Reinforcement learning — would sit alongside ML.
  • Robotics, SLAM, perception, sensor fusion — a substantial area in its own right; would need its own section rather than a page.
  • Agentic AI and LLM application development — partly covered in LLMs and generative AI, which deliberately stays conceptual.
  • Systems design and engineering leadership — outside this site's technical scope.
  • Quantum computing — peripheral.
  • Flight training and aviation practice — not a computational topic.

Adding a section is a real commitment: the note template asks for failure modes, which means the area has to be known well enough to have failed at it.
